What an emotional rollercoaster for the first gig of 2023. A big thanks to the ladies at Bradbury for having us first and foremost. Somebody must have called the sheriff because while the Birds "didn't shoot no deputy" the Allston-Brighton police force brought us in guilty about halfway into a beauty of an afternoon. While there was no actual repercussions, the Bird Brain's had their set cut short, but their belly's full of cake in celebration of the many fine audience members that held a hatching date of April 15th. Filling the air with Shakedown Street, MGMT Kids, Witchy Woman, and many other tunes from the greats, the Birds covered a cover band in style with grace. So much grace, that almost no words were spoken from the lead singer on some songs. More of a "music does the talking" sort of lead singer in Drew Romagna it seems. Not much to note here other than WOO placement is vitally important. This trial run taught the covey, that May 13th at Somerville Porchfest will be for all the marbles, and these birds love shiny objects. TBC.
