Midway Cafe - June 25, 2023

Wild weekend? Doy, what are you new to the blog. This is what these flight monsters do, but especially grateful to say the least, as the Birds really aviated a flock of pre-frontal cortexes and are quite thankful for the opportunity. How does the lead singer make love? You are probably NOT wondering about that after Sunday's performance. So cringe that you could hear a fruit fly divebomb a piece of cotton from Sparky's pet bedframe. Anyway. From the roaring plains of Jamaica to Shakedown Street, Birds & Co. decided to channel their seriously misunderstood alter ego Angel's of Darkness for their matinee of a lifetime. Do these guys know theory? Maybe, but in case they didn't, they chose two keys and pulled together an hour of original music by some other bands. Marshall Tucker Band and Eric Clapton in one set? Pinch me? Pinch yourself, you could never. Incredible that Dead & Co. was too scared to fill in for Asphalt Nap with a band like the Birdies on the bill and had to play Fenway Park. Feel better Asphalters.

(Above) - cool band covering cool music in the swankiest place they've entered.

Quite possibly a record low for agua consumption for the band as a whole; just fancy bagged croissants, Dunkin diesel fuel, and one free beer courtesy of the fine folks at Midway. Maybe a gameday ritual at this point. It's almost like the rock gods forgot their drinks. My drink? My Diet Dr. Bird Bath?! We've all had a Diet Dr. Bird Bath metaphorically or metaphysically. Another one in the books though for The Bird Brains. Oh wait, did you want to hear about the music? Yeah Yeah Yeah. The rhythm section stole the show, and Sidewalk Sammy had arguably the highlight of the night will a blazing arrangement on the Black Magic Woman outro. Ya happy? The boys are trending in the right direction come time for America's birthday. Happy Birthday America. No rest, for the sick.
