Midway Cafe - RD2 - August 27th, 2023

Another one! Bring out the whole ocean! I'm asparagus! That's what the flock was thinking as they blazed through quite another classic rock inspired set at the Midway Cafe Sunday night. You would like to think that the Birds primary mode of transportation would be flight, but these guys like to put themselves as close to the edge of the tracks, and ride the rockiest of rails. The Big Happy was a monster act to follow and through some deep reflection to the likes of Bulls on Parade and trips to Guitar Center last minute, The Bird Brains put down another 40min set to the likes of Soulshine by the Allman Brothers, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Fly Like An Eagle (the grunge edition) etc. None of this would be possible without the major anxiety of Sam's pedalboard, who we thank dearly for keeping us focused in trying times, in his name we pray, amen. It's also worth noting that Yo Yo Ma's cousin did not audition at this show, allowing Samuel to ink his name amongst the greats, as the new owner of 30 some odd dollars, and the title of professional musician. Congrats to him.

Shoutout to the fans that stuck this one out as well. The ratio of ACLs to people at a Birds show displays daunting courage and heroism that we cannot thank enough. Did Romagna forget the words again, did Jake Marano crack the code on the new trending role of lead bassist, is Jack the Snack a man who physically eats drumsticks or beach-sand for breakfast, and who the hell is Pitch Perfect? Find out next week on another episode of The Bird Brains, on tour.
