Porchfest - May 11th, 2024

The Bird Brains (above) thanking the masses at Somerville Porchfest 2024.

I hear there's a famous band playing down the street they said. They just played MGM last night they said. I hear there's a band with a premier porta john and margaritas as far as the eye can see with Jimmy Buffet, School of Rock tributes, mascots, kegs, merch, stickers, tattoos, best friends... they said, no more. An afternoon of chaos and closure for The Bird Brains as they took the stage for the final time outside 127 Hudson Street. A sunny spring afternoon day sprung them into action with big loud amps and terrific vocals blowing the top off the place that was packed to the gills. The ears of the masses are still ringing with the chants of "SALT, SALT, SALT" as they tipped their cups, YETI's, bean bowls, to the late greats. Sam the Jam set fire to the mountain once again, Romagna may or may not have had on women's sunglasses, once again, and we saw what can only be described as a Scary Pocket snapped into place by the rhythm section Jakey the Mustache bachelor & the Jack the Jaguar Flash on songs like Fly Like An Eagle, Otherside, Teenage Dirtbag, etc.

The Bird Brains (above) doing their best impression of serious musical fusion in the wild.

The Hooch was on the move Saturday afternoon taking his talents from Faneuil Hall to the Tiki Bar extravaganza wielding the strongest Mojitos known to man kind for maximum focus on vibes over fusion. Really buttering his biscuits, Q came with a signature Margarita that could never be found on Aisle 13 at Costco next to the Kirkland pre-mades - this guy is a natural born show stopper with a shaker. We didn't also know we accepted Korean, European, dimes, shoelace strings, as payment through our hire, but that is just the type of service you get at a Bird Brain show. Wrapping up what turned out to be the biggest performance of their, The Bird Brains closed with classic vocals by Aqua Manning on Zombie, and the utmost impressive, Zach's Song - The School of Rock as their encore. If it wasn't for one pesky extension chord, flawless would have been the description, but that's what you get for burning up the fuse outlets with a guitar battle to close the show. Thanks to all who attended, bought shirts, tipped the band, donated to Premier Porta's, shook hands, called our lead vocalist Patty handsome constantly through the show, and partied with us for the afternoon. As the great Jackie Moon would say, everybody love everybody, ELE, and that's just how it felt on Saturday. I will leave you all with a quote from the great Dewey Finn. Thank you all for your support and keep it All Bird, No Brain.

"And if you want to be the teachers pet, well baby you better forget it, rock got no reason, rock got no rhyme, you better get me to school on time" - Dewey Finn.

Yours Truly,

The Bird Brains
